Last Step
About
Best known for his mind-bending IDM and breakcore releases as Venetian Snares, Canadian electronic music producer Aaron Funk has also explored his acid, electro, and new wave influences under the alias Last Step. Unlike most of his Snares material, his work as Last Step rarely features samples or breakbeats, instead focusing on sounds created by analog synthesizers. The tempos and time signatures are also a little bit more relaxed than on typical Snares releases, but they occasionally get quite hectic.
After his debut EP "You're A Nice Girl" and his appearance on the 'Sacred Symbols Of Mu' compilation, Last Step unleashes his debut album called simply 'Last Step'. These tracks are all created using original analogue equipment, the Roland 303, 606, 707 and Jupiter etc.
Last Step has listed his influences as The Carpenters, Giorgio Moroder, Drexciya, Phuture, Depeche Mode, Luke Vibert, Mozart, Jean Michel Jarre, Roland, The Human League, DMX Krew, Throbbing Gristle, Vav Jungle, Jeff Mills, Simon and Simon, 808 State & Glass Tiger.
