Lowfish
About
Lowfish, a.k.a. Toronto's Gregory de Rocher, ranks among the worlds leading post electro and analogue idm producers. Active since 1996 he has released records on some of independent dance music's most influential labels, has charted in North America and is noted for his punishing sets of live electronics. His clinical production style is both very modern and built on the DNA of early new wave and IDM. Since 1997 he has run the Suction Records label with his long time collaborator Solvent (Jason Amm).
DeRocher's music combines the stripped-down approach of early new wave and industrial acts with the melodic edginess of Selected Ambient Works 1-era Aphex Twin. DeRocher's first tracks were recorded and released on cassette under the name Pest(e) before Suction was established. His music is spontaneous electronica paired with raw drum machine rhythms with up-front, alternately aggressive and plaintive electronics
