Microlith
About
Microlith was an electronic musician Rhys Celeste from Malta. As Microlith, Celeste made melodic techno and IDM, releasing four albums and three EPs since 2014. Most of his work was self-released via Bandcamp, though he established a strong relationship with Sheffield outlet Central Processing Unit, which put out 2016's Dance With Me LP and another two EPs. His music consists of excellent composition skills, interesting rhythm sections, captivating melodies and electrifying acid riffs that create a great dark atmosphere.
Tragically on 26th Feb 2017, Rhys Celeste died in a road accident at the age of 24, our condolences to his family and friends. A few weeks before Rhys submitted almost forty tracks for his first album on Fundamental Records and with the permission of his family the label decided to release his best work, available as a free album on bandcamp. There is special sensation that you can feel in all tracks composed by Rhys, something nostalgic with a big doses of happiness and hope in every note.
Compilation Album - In Memory of Microlith
Rhys Celeste’s untimely passing shocked us all, including the electronic music scene in Malta and abroad. As a small community of music producers, this tragic news was felt deeply. Rhys’ dedication towards his music was an inspiration to all of us, and he will forever live through his music. This is our tribute to him. Musical freedom was given to all producers so that each track would represent what Rhys meant to each producer, their own personal homage. All proceeds from this VA will go towards Electronic Music Malta (of which Rhys was an active member), and these will be reinvested into community projects, as agreed among all producers involved in this project.
