About

About:

Phylum Sinter is the pseudonym of Detroit-Based musician Christopher Todd, used to release his Experimental Electronic music. The name means a set of species intended to be used as fuel. Since 2001 he has been involved in the leftfield electronic scene, having cut his teeth on numerous netlabels (Post Under, Crazy Language, Xynthetic) and releasing albums on n5md digital imprint Enpeg (the album ‘From Unity To Segmentation’ released in 2009) and MMR (‘Detroit Nocturnes’, released in 2010) and Hopskotch Records (‘Esc’, released in 2013).

His style combines heavy love of DSP and modular synthesis systems and software generation with Detroit Techno and early IDM. On the surface, one can expect a blend of glitch-friendly beats, custom DSP fiddling, classically-slanted melodies, and the occasional pop hook. Imagine, if you will, the likes of early Quinoline Yellow and Metamatics, with a nostalgic sound driven by sparkling melodies playing with crunchy experimental sound design.

C. Todd has been exploring the connections between sounds, thoughts, and imagery as Phylum Sinter, he is always available for collaboration in any form, and is prone to discussions concerning the interplay of senses, or the motives behind creative output.
