Hymen Records was founded in 1993 by Stefan Alt (aka recording artist S.Alt), who serves as the art director. Self promoted as "Technoid Noises for Collapsing People" it covers the more IDM based side of industrial music. While Ant-zen delivers finest and outstanding noise / electronica / ambient since 1993. The brother label Hymen Records was founded in 1997 to present rough technoid and electro music as a separate and unique platform. Hymen has a catalogue bursting with notable artists such as Hecq, Wisp, Nebulo, Keef Baker, Gridlock, Architect and Venetian Snares.
According to Stefan in an interview for igloomag: “The idea for this label was born at a time when a part of the “techno” movement became more experimental and industrial-noise more technoid, which was a logical movement in my point of view, as both genres have a common hypnotizing effect. There was quite a lot of feedback from DJ’s and radio-stations that played Ant-Zen artists’ songs with material from labels like Sahkö, Rephlex, Warp (respect to all of them) and there was the point where it was necessary to split up some concepts.”
