About
Conelrad has been producing electronic music since around 2000. Most of their influences have in common an experimental interest in sound, aural space and memory. their sound is defined by ambient retro soundscapes with stumbling drums, with boards of canada vibes but with its own dark twist.
They are constantly inspired by the combined fascination/dread of the late Cold War, nuclear weapons/nuclear power, the dismal atmosphere of Britain in the 1980s. Their name reflects that as CONELRAD (Control of Electromagnetic Radiation) was a method of emergency broadcasting in the event of enemy attack.
They make all their music with free software called Jeskola Buzz, one clapped out Mexican Telecaster, and one generic condenser mic. But it sounds pretty good despite that. Even better is that all their albums are available for free!
